Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
- 1/2 cup raw cashews
- 1/4 cup nutritional yeast
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 4 cups vegetable broth
- 1 cup grits
Optional
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne
Directions
1. | Combine all ingredients, except broth and grits, in a blender and process until completely smooth. |
2. | Meanwhile, whisk together broth and grits in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil and then simmer over medium low heat, whisking constantly, until thick and bubbly. |
3. | Pour cashew mixture into the grits and continue to whisk until thick and bubbly again. |
4. | Remove from heat and let sit 5-10 minutes before serving. |
